Much like plenty of e-bike startups, it was started out of passion, particularly of “2,000 e-bike enthusiasts”. It adopts a daring approach in its company philosophy, which extends to the qualities of its e-bikes. That said, its name takes inspiration from the abundant courage exemplified by famed American writer Ernest Hemingway.
Himiway e-bikes, are they any good?
Himiway e-bike brand offers budget-friendly pricing, powerful performance, and versatile all-terrain options. It is highly recommended for buyers seeking affordable and high-performing e-bikes. Whether you crave off-road adventures, cargo-carrying capabilities, or comfortable commuting, Himiway has something for you.
Despite its relatively small catalog at present, there’s plenty of variety. Each of the five main e-bike lines it offers falls under different categories, while all share fat tires. Most, if not all, are characterized by dynamic 750W motors, high-capacity batteries that can provide ample range, and are adequately supplied with needed accessories.

Himiway Hybrid Model Line
The Zebra (now D5) is the closest in the category that can get to being a pure fat e-bike, given how it’s marketed as an all-terrain option. Coupled with the powerful gear hub motor that can reach up to 27 mph on throttle-only mode and the above-average riding ranges that can top 80 miles (130 km), it’s a pretty solid option.
It’s hard to get models with these specs in these price ranges. You also readily gain the unique advantage of the Kendra fat tires, which heightens stability and boosts traction in tricky terrain. Overall, though, the Zebra is mainly designed for only some minor off-roading, which is further compounded by the average handling of the e-bike as a whole.
The model has also been recently outfitted with a top-tier hydraulic disc brake that provides sufficient stopping power appropriate for its superior motor. Overall, the e-bike shines in its ability to make short work of inclines and excellent braking ability.
We also can’t fault the fact that it comes with plenty of useful accessories, like the rear rack, fenders, front lights, and a kickstand.
Himiway Cargo Model Line
The Big Dog is Himiway’s version of a cargo e-bike. It’s not exactly what we would term a classic cargo option. Still, it does promise an impressive 400-pound (180 kg) payload capacity with its rear rack, which is pretty much an element peculiar to models in that category.
Expect practically the same power and range as most Himiway models, particularly the Zebra and Cobra. Though the tires may be smaller, it’s just as wide (4 inches, to be exact), so don’t be surprised if you enjoy the same superb traction as other models.
Overall, it’s hard to pass on a cargo e-bike that can function like a commuter, help you lug things and passengers around, keep you worry-free when traversing inclines, and offer a generous riding range all at once. That’s what sets it apart.
The Big Dog is noticeably more expensive than the other e-bikes in the catalogs. This is primarily because it comes default with the capacious rack, unlike in the Cruiser, where the racks are optional.

Himiway Mountain Model Line
The Cobra is Himiway’s dedicated eMTB, arguably one of its best offerings. It comes with a higher-end Pro option that upgrades the motor and gear shift system and adds a double-suspension system to the already impressive specs of the original Cobra.
It’s labeled a mountain e-bike that delivers “monster power.” Considering the 1000W Bafant mid-drive motor it comes with, that should already be a given.
Another standout feature is the full-suspension design. Simply put, it knows how to deliver the shock absorption required to keep you steady even while traversing the most challenging terrain. And we can say this for both the base and Pro models.
The mid-drive of the Pro is infinitely better than the 750W hub motor of the Cobra standard, as it fits the 10-gear shifting system more and lends to the lower weight. Comparing the two, though, it’s not hard to hand trophies to either one.
You get plenty of torque (86Nm) in the rear hub motor in the standard and noteworthy hydraulic disc brakes. The best reason to choose it is that it can deliver all this while being $1,000 cheaper than its Pro counterpart. Choose the Pro only if you think mid-drive and more shifting options are better or if you feel you can’t have enough power when riding an eMTB.

Himiway Cruiser Model Line
Because of the fat tires, think of Himiway’s Cruiser as a more versatile and powerful option compared to other brands. Rightly so, there’s a clear focus on comfort with the upright seating position –even more so if you choose the Step-Thru.
While it has the power of its cousins, it’s meant more for casual riding. While obviously not top-of-the-line, the Shimano 7-gear shift system does aid in lengthening the riding range. Furthermore, while the frame uses more budget-friendly aluminum materials, it feels solid with generous amounts of paint.
You’re already getting your money’s worth, but don’t expect anything more than what you’re willing to shell out when it comes to this comfort-oriented e-bike.

Himiway Commuter Model Line
The Escape moped-style e-bike offers the most versatility, and the brand candidly advertises this by attaching the “multi-functional” label to it. It has all the niceties you can expect from a daily commuter model, like the fenders, lights, rack, and kickstand.
You get to enjoy practically the same amount of power as the other models, thanks to the integration of the 750W motor, the riding range is cut a bit since it uses a lower-capacity 17.5Ah Samsung battery instead. Add to this the more robust traction and stability of the wide tires, and there’s practically no room for other complaints – except for its 92-pound (42 kg) weight.
Summed up, it imparts a riding experience centered on both leisure and practicality. You won’t hesitate to take it e out on a Sunday ride to ease your boredom or become your go-to option for the regular commute. And, yes, you can still expect to enjoy both, even if you’re in a hilly locale.

What Do Riders Think of Himiway?
That these e-bikes deliver abundant power and range without charging too much for them highlights why Himiway has earned a relatively solid following in the few years since its birth. The brand makes no illusion of catering to any audience other than those who don’t want to pay an exorbitant sum of money just to enjoy an e-bike, especially ones that are usually already in the mid-range spectrum specs-wise.
Overall, it’s not that popular and isn’t exactly a go-to option in the US, but the fact that it has enjoyed growth over its young life says a lot about the brand’s staying power.
