The Electric Bike Company (EBC) is a US-based e-bike brand that has earned fame for making customizable e-bikes assembled in the US. Different aspects of your e-bike can be personalized, and they are all tested in-house, inspected, fully assembled, and delivered right to the buyer’s doorstep.

The brand started its journey in Newport Beach, California. Local bike builders make the electric cruiser with high-quality materials. As a result, the product features premium parts. 

Another distinct user advantage is that the company operates in the direct-to-consumer model. Since there are no middlemen in between, buyers do not have to pay extra for markups. The company also provides value add-ons, such as a 5-year warranty on the battery and a 10-year warranty on e-bike parts, including the motor and the frame.

EBC is the brainchild of Sean Lupton-Smith, previously a restauranter and now an e-bike entrepreneur. He found an instant connection with the concept of e-bikes that helps enhance mobility in a greener essence. The answer is affirmative. Yes, it is. Sean’s e-bikes are some of the most trusted in the US. The battery is powered by a Smart Battery Management System that relays a warning and shuts off the battery in case it gets too hot. Safety is a top priority at EBC.

Electric Bike Company e-Bikes Review: Model Line-up

Model C

The Model C is the classic model and is styled as a cruiser e-bike, which is best for beach drives. With plenty of color options, you can get your e-bike in your favorite shade. The robust frame and the suspension seat add to the comfort factor. 

Front and rear lights are good for enhanced visibility. Even with cargo, you can depend on this e-bike for great rides. There’s a surf rack mount provided. 

The motor of 1250W generates a lot of power. The e-bike has a weight capacity of about 380lb (170 kg).

On the con side, the e-bike is a bit heavier, and the single-gear system doesn’t give the flexibility that you would want. Sometimes, this e-bike model could prove challenging to pedal, and you may need a bit of throttle initially for a start.

Model S

It is a Class 3 e-cruiser best fit for beaches. It has a sturdy frame, clean welds, and a 500W motor. The customization tool of EBC gives it an edge over its competitors, where the customer can add different customized features like the color of the frame, fender, fork, battery case, chainguard, etc. 

It is a user-friendly e-bike with smooth engagement from the motor. EBC promotes it as a motor that can ride for 18 years without fail. It has a comfortable riding position, and the battery has impressive stats of 48V and 18Ah.

The LCD is colored and user-friendly, designed to offer real-time data of speed and battery charge remaining. The multi-level compact screen can be used to control the LED safety lights at the front and rear.

On the not-so-impressive side, the e-bike comes across as a bit heavy. So, if you need to lift the e-bike to put it in the car or up the stairs, you might want to think again. The optional basket and battery placement shift the center of gravity to a higher position.

Model X

This e-bike from EBC has the best possible range. 110-mile (180 km) max range is what EBC promises! Fitted with a 21Ah battery, you have the best ride with this nice-looking e-bike. It’s easy to handle, and the cable management is excellent. The bike is large, but you don’t feel it when riding. 

It is a cruiser e-bike. Riders of different heights can easily ride it, with EBC’s recommended height for the model being 5’2″ – 6’10”. The customization options on the site are incredible. Overall, the X model is synonymous with comfort and a great feeling.

On the con side, the e-bike is quite large and long. The alarm fitting is a good feature for safety purposes, but at times, it can sound at a higher decibel, taking away the charm of the e-bike.

Model Y

This is necessarily an e-bike for women. It is a step-through e-cruiser with attractive wooden fenders and a fuzzy basket liner. The cruiser seat is pretty wide for comfort. The hydraulic disk brakes have a clean design. Its chain ring is easy to pedal up for the e-bike to reach the highest speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), and there’s a throttle for the extra boost.

The front lights are powerful, while the tail lights on either side of the e-bike keep it visible even in the extreme dark. The entire hardware is corrosion-resistant and made from good-quality stainless steel, while the pedals, headset, and crank are all sealed.

There’s a basket battery with a warranty of five years. The 1000Watt motor is excellent in terms of performance.

The not-so-plus point of the e-bike is the suspension fork that made the e-bike a bit taller, combined with the big wheels and tires. It can be a challenge for someone short in height.

Model R

The Model R from EBC is a class three pedal assist, throttle e-bike, and comfort is its biggest asset. The maximum speed is about 28mph (45 km/h). The front suspension is dependable, and the motor is quite powerful and helps ride up steep hills. 

This one is a good choice if you are looking for an e-bike for a city commute. As a user, you have customization powers. The components are all excellent quality, including stainless steel wheels and bearings. 

The large front chainring and the seven-speed drivetrain assist in pedaling. The seat post can cause concern, sometimes making the city drive uncomfortable. You must be careful at sharp turns, as the cruiser-style geometry can be challenging.

Model E

E denotes Everyone. It is a cruiser e-bike, EBC’s specialization. It is made for city commutes and boardwalk rides. It has a sleek look with the battery located inside the frame. 

It is a robust e-bike but not over-powerful. The 1000W rear hub motor is mostly under control. Wide handlebars, premium hydraulic disk brakes, and platform pedals make it easy to ride. 

It does not feel heavy. The step-through design makes it easily drivable and is a good option for people of all heights. The saddle and the leather grips make it a comfortable choice.

The only not-so-good about the e-bike is that the bars extend backward way too long, which can be a pain point when driving continuously.

Model F

F stands for Folding. With this model, EBC technically entered the non-cruiser e-bike gamut. Model F has larger tires compared to most folding e-bikes – 24 inches x 3 inches. The large tires help raise the riding height for the rider.

The model comes in three colors – red, black, and white. The frame is made of top-quality aluminum 6061. 

The downside of the e-bike is that it does not have a stand to rest in the folded stage. The distance of the pedal from the ground is about 8 inches, and the seat has to be raised higher for a full leg extension. It makes descending from the e-bike a bit strenuous. 

The seat is large with a comfy saddle and is one of the best in the e-bike industry. It is a single-speed e-bike.

Model A

‘A’ stands for affordable. Model A, a new model from EMC, comes with a modified headset, making room for an optional basket to be attached to the frame. You can opt for an additional torque sensor for an enhanced riding experience. 

This lifestyle street cruiser gives a maximum speed of 28 mph (45 km/h). The handlebars are designed to offer an upright position while cruising. The colored compact LCD Screen is user-friendly, just like the other EMC models. 

Does Electric Bike Company Have Accessories Available?

EBC offers customized helmets to its buyers, wherein users can pick from as many as 40 colors. The helmets have magnetic buckles, integrated lights in the front and back, air vents for cooling purposes, and rear head lock retention, and are CSPC-safety approved.

Besides this, there are choices of apparel, bags and baskets, batteries and chargers, belts, gift cards, covers, mirrors, lights, locks, seats, seat posts, speakers, and all components in their accessories shop.

Does EBC offer a Manufacturer’s Warranty?

To avail of the manufacturers’ warranty, the buyer must register their e-bike within thirty days from the purchase date with EBC. The warranty is non-transferable. The warranty details are as below:

• A 30-day Limited Warranty is provided as a paint warranty for defective or faded paint.
• A 5-year warranty on the battery against manufacturing defects. 
• A 10-year warranty on the motor against manufacturing defects.

EBC does not offer any trial or test period.

What Do Riders Think of the Electric Bike Company e-bikes?

Overall, customers rate their experience with EBC with five stars. People are happy with the customer service, prompt deliveries, and products. The other aspect many customers love about EBC is the chance to build their e-bike as per their choices. Some users have complimented the company, including the rear rack and the front basket.

On the other hand, there have been some comments about the wires that go from the handlebars to the frame.
