Evelo is the brainchild of two brothers, Yevgeniy and Boris Mordkovich. Inspired by his desire to spend more time riding bicycles with his wife, Yevgeniy created an electric bike from scratch, which then became the prototype for the first Evelo eBike in 2011. Boris brought in his business experience to help bring the eBike to the growing market.

They discovered that with eBikes sweaty pedaling for long distances and on hilly terrain… all could become a thing of the past. The two brothers further developed the brand with a dedicated team to bring it to the station it is today – a company with a decade’s worth of experience in the eBike industry.
Evelo: What Do They Stand For?
Evelo has made a firm stand for premium quality, which appears to be fueled by the company’s desire to share the joy of cycling with as many people as possible. Understanding their customer’s needs, the company aspires to create a variety of eBikes, albeit with quality combined with cutting-edge technology.
They exhibit an excellent ‘follow-through’ culture; Evelo’s aim to create long-lasting products that can serve for years is backed by a whopping 4-year/20,000-mile warranty.
Their business style reflects a mature Direct to Customer (D2C) service model that features in-house support every day of the week. Their customer obsession is well reflected in the FAQ section of their website, where they’ve given detailed answers to some very specific questions- for example – the legality of riding eBikes in NYC.
Evelo appears dedicated to reaching new cyclists, ones who’ve possibly never considered eBikes before. This is evident from their generous 21-day, an at-home trial that allows a new biker to get plenty of time to see if their purchase is the right fit for them. This 3-week trial is very telling of a company that seems to understand the significance of investing in an eBike.
Evelo e-Bikes Review: Model Lines
Evelo covers pretty much every kind of eBike you’ll need. Here’s a list of their model lines and the type of eBikes sold under them.
|eBike Model Line||Type|
|Trail||Off-road, Trails, City, Commuter, Mountain|
|Tricycle||Commuters, City, Recreational|
|Folding||Foldable, City, Commuters|
Evelo’s designs speak of a thorough integration between the traditional and electric components of an eBike, to a point where every piece feels well-purposed and secure. They have focused significantly on intricate matters of the eBike, like the rider’s position on the seat, and the optimum height and weight range of a new rider.
The company’s no-nonsense catalog is a testament to the ‘Simple and Powerful’ vibe it instills in a buyer. Its solid line-up features everything from a cruiser to an electric trike. With most of their line-ups featuring just one eBike, the company focuses on finding the one solution, wherever applicable.
Evelo’s ‘Cruiser’ Line-Up — Pick the Best of Three
The Cruiser line-up from Evelo is the only one to feature three unique bike designs, each catering to a different riding style. Cruiser eBikes are perfect when the rider can pedal through the world, knowing very well that the bike has its back. Evelo’s cruisers feature swept-back cruiser handlebars, good, comfortable saddles, all ridden correctly in the upright position.
At the base, there is the Aurora Sport. Right off the bat, there is a powerful 750W electric bike motor for the most reasonable sticker price ever on a modern eBike with a Shimano drivetrain. Aurora Sport is incredibly well-balanced and powerful enough to take you over any hill you see.
The unisex design is well-thought and an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to just pick up an eBike, and cruise a decent 45 miles (72 km).
Then, at the top, there is Aurora Limited. This limited-edition Aurora features noticeable upgrades, with a deeper cut on the sporty step-through frame.
Clearly redesigned for more, one of the most attractive features here is the automatic gear shift powered by the Enviolo Automatiq CVT system. Fitted with a quick charge that can get you 60 miles (96 km), this eBike makes good use of its modern components for a calm but powerful cruiser.
And finally, there is the Galaxy 500. This ‘middle-child of the Evelo cruiser line is perhaps one that would appeal most to the majority. Here, we see a solid 500W motor packed onto one of the widest step-through frames ever seen on an eBike.
A great unisex design which is only furthered by a superb set of features: Automatic Gear Shift, Pedal Assist & Throttle, and the Gates Carbon Drive Belt — all set to have you cruise a significant 50 miles (80 km).
Evelo’s ‘Trail’ Line-Up — Power of the ‘Atlas’
This model is clearly the most expensive of the Evelo line-up. You will find yourself falling in love with the sleek, powerful design of the limited-release Atlas.
The list of features seems endless: A dual battery to boost your range from 60 miles to 100 miles (96 to 160 km), the reliable Gates Carbon Belt, the smooth Enviolo CVT gearing system, the responsive Hydraulic Disk Brakes, an add-on throttle-ready system, all built to make the most out of the whopping 1200W of peak power from its Bafang M600 motor.
Clearly meant for the serious, ‘trail-blazer’ rider, we couldn’t help but marvel at the solidity of the piece — an incredibly reliable machine featuring minimal maintenance that could be the final solution for even the most experienced eBikers.
Evelo’s ‘Folding’ Line-Up — Unfolding and Exploring the ‘Dash’
A perfect folding bike allows you to be a little rough, without breaking down or making you pay for it. The Dash folding electric bike, it appears, has met these criteria.
Evelo boasts Dash to be one of the lightest mid-drive eBikes ever, despite the solid power and torque supplied from its 350W motor. It features the reliable Gates Carbon Drive belt system, geared by a 5-speed Sturmey Archer Hub that shifts smoothly down to dig expertly into steep, hilly climbs.
Its sturdy design and compact fold convince you that it can withstand a beating — whether it’s folded into small spaces and bumped during transport, or if it’s bounced along rougher roads for an incredible range of up to 45 miles (72 km).
This is a clean, foldable eBike that delivers superb performance with little to no lubrication or maintenance.
Evelo’s Tricycle Line-Up — Riding the ‘Compass’
Our experience with the Compass shows why it is one of the most popular adult tricycles in the American market today. What appears as a perfect blend of mobility, safety, and stability seems only furthered by a well-placed, 500W mid-drive motor system.
The thoughtfully designed step-through frame and a 100% throttle capability show the intuition of its craftsmanship, while the superior traction of the two-wheel drive and a rear differential makes for well-balanced, safer turnings — a much-needed upgrade for tricycles today; especially if you’re looking for safe 3 wheel bikes for seniors.
Evelo: What Do the Customers Say?
