At the Château des Tourtes and the Château Haut-Guiraud, visitors are offered e-bikes to discover vineyards and wines.
The Château des Tourtes des Vignobles Raguenot in Saint-Caprais-de-Blaye has been working on this project since September. “La Bulle verte” (The Green Bubble) offers a two-hour excursion to the heart of the vineyard of the company with 19 employees in the Blaye-Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation. A 9-kilometer loop is to be done on an electric bicycle with an audio-guide.
Ten stations along the route, allow visitors to learn more about the grape varieties, the estuary, the city of Bordeaux and the conversion to organic farming of the Château des Tourtes, which covers 70 hectares.
“The idea is to diversify our activities, to give visitors a live experience, which they would remember as pleasant and fun. We have great faith in this,” emphasizes optimistic Marie-Pierre Lallez, co-manager of the property. “We’ve mapped out the route ourselves and, on our e-bikes, we’ve rediscovered our vineyards from a different angle.»
The Château des Tourtes also offers on-site wine tasting, visits to the cellars and an enology workshop of wine blending and tasting.
The prices start at 25 euros per person. This includes a Dutch electric bike or cargo bike rented for 2 hours, an audio-guided tour, and 30 minutes of cellar visit and wine tasting. Several visit options are available. Contact via: +33 5 57 32 65 15.
E-cycling via the vineyards of the Côtes-de-Bourg
The Haut-Guiraud castle in Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse enjoys a privileged view overlooking the Gironde estuary. And, the wine-producing estate specializes in convivial events such as its harvest festival.
The combination of these two factors gave the idea for the latest activity, an oenotouristic ride on an electric bicycle called “Ebike and wine”. The concept is simple: a ride in the Côtes-de-Bourg region for a group of 5 to 12 people accompanied by someone from the château.
The departure is from Haut Guiraud at 9 am, stop at the Lansac mill, at Tauriac in the vineyards, at Bourg, direction le Pain de Sucre, the road of the cornice, with a break in front of the correlates of the port of La Roque de Thau and return to the castle.
There, the cyclists will be awaited by a country meal with a tasting of wines of the estate. “It’s a nice outing, with good wine,” concludes Nicolas Mouillot, the château’s salesman and designer of the project.
Rides are available from Monday to Saturday, reservations need to be made 48 hours in advance. By email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone +33 6 37 52 41 09. Tariffs are 80€ per adult, 60€ for 14-18 year-olds.
