Folding e-Bikes, which are electric bicycles that are able to be folded for storage or for travel, are a great option for riders who are looking for a vehicle that doesn’t take up too much space.
Often, folding e-Bikes are recommended for those who live in crowded cities or small living spaces, but folding e-Bikes are also ideal for storing at work when commuting, in car trunks and closets, and more.

This article will specifically highlight some folding e-Bike models that are best suitable for women riders!

Considerations for Women when Choosing Folding e-Bikes
Folding e-bike frame
On average, something to keep in mind is that females tend to have shorter torsos and longer legs than men do. Because of this, women-specific e-Bikes tend to have smaller frames and shorter top tubes.
Keep in mind that you can determine what an ideal specification is based on your height and leg length. For very short or petite women, be sure to look for an e-Bike that specifies it fits your height. As women tend to be shorter than men, on average, this is something to keep in mind if looking at unisex models.

Another thing to keep in mind is step-through frames, which is a frame that has a low or non-existent crossbar. Not only are step-through frames helpful for mounting and dismounting comfortably and lessens the chances of tripping over the bar, but for riders who wear dresses and skirts, this frame is also ideal.
For very short riders, crank arms are another thing to keep in mind. Most e-Bikes come with standard crank sizes, so for shorter riders, look for e-Bikes that have shorter crank arms. If the cranks are too long for your height and body proportions, this can lead to potential issues such as knee pain and other related injuries.

Lastly, women tend to have smaller hands than men, which means that reaching for brake levers can be a challenge. Thus, shorter reach brake levers can be useful for women who have smaller hands.
Folding e-bike handlebars, saddle, and stem
Another physiological difference between men and women to keep in mind is that females tend to have narrower shoulders. This means that having narrower handlebars are ideal for women riders.
When looking for a suitable folding e-Bike for yourself, be sure to look for an option that has adjustable handlebars, or if you’re able to, test out the e-Bike first to make sure it is comfortable with your shoulder width.
You should be able to comfortably relax your elbows and shoulders (ie. not hunched over or with high elbows). If your handlebars are too wide, this could lead to an imbalance while riding, and therefore less control over your e-Bike.
Female-specific saddles are another option for women riders. Due to the physiological differences in the pelvic area between men and women, female saddles are usually wider, and some even have a gap that goes through the middle.
Female-specific saddles are designed for optimal comfort; women riders can either look for an e-Bike that has this saddle already or easily customize their e-Bike and swap it out with one. Another component to look for in a saddle, particularly for extra comfort, are padded or ergonomic saddles.
Lastly, due to the fact that women tend to have shorter torsos (as mentioned before), you may need a shorter stem, which is the piece of the e-Bike that connects the frame to the handlebar. If looking at unisex folding e-Bike models, keep in mind that many brands now have different frame sizes (ranging Small, Medium, and Large) which offer more customizable fits for riders.
With all these considerations in mind, women riders can customize their e-Bikes to suit their more female-specific needs.
Folding E-Bike Models
Depending on your lifestyle, the type of riding you’re looking to do (for example, short distances or leisure riding vs, long-distance and intense riding), female riders should consider the motor power, range per charge, and frame components when looking at folding e-Bike models.
