Moustache is an e-bike brand that was founded in France. Despite being a relatively young brand (having been founded only in 2011), it was able to establish itself as a household name by successfully introducing innovation to the field.
The brand’s motto, derived from the ideals of its two founders, is to “leave the car in the garage”. Without a doubt, that’s a goal that doesn’t differ from a handful of other e-bike brands worldwide. What makes Moustache different is the speed at which it’s apparently achieving that objective due to its relatively substantial experience it has acquired producing only e-bikes.
Even up to now their models are purely made in France, in its southern Vosges region, to be exact. Are you curious as to why the brand opted for the name “Moustache”? It’s to highlight the distinctive styles of their models. That, plus the fact that their unique handlebars appear to assume the form of a, you guessed it, moustache.

Moustache has a fairly impressive catalog not only in terms of quantity but quality as well. It has, at least, 12 unique e-bike lines as of this writing. It also offers a well-balanced collection of e-bikes that can fall under the cruiser, city, eMTB, road, kids, and tandem categories.
Moustache doesn’t compromise on the power of its motors as evidenced by its integration of Bosch motors (most of which offer various modes like Eco, Turbo, Sport, and Tour) as well as batteries made by the same company. As mentioned before, its highly original handlebars are another standout aspect because they pay tribute to a handlebar style that trended in the past and that few contemporary brands now incorporate.
The various models under each line are denoted by a dot followed by a different number, not unlike how software versioning works. There are a lot of lines with many variations so this system does work for a brand as prolific as Moustache.
Moustache Lundi 27 Model Line
The brand’s first-ever e-bike line, the Lundi 27 is quite arguably the most popular in the Moustache catalog, too. Its very low top tube calls to mind a standard cruiser design so we have opted to categorize it as such.
The 27.1, 27.3, and 27.5 versions of the Lundi 27 connote pretty much a progressive boost in specs (and, therefore, cost) as well as a slight difference in design for the purpose of meeting a certain riding requirement. This rings true for other versions seen in different lines.
Being the brand’s prototype, the Lundi 27 definitely serves as a good introduction to Moustache’s e-bike philosophy. You’ll see it in the Bosch Active line motors and the inimitable Moustache that is positioned and designed in such a way as to keep the rider upright and, in turn, comfortable. It’s obviously a handlebar designed to boost ergonomics. This alone makes it a classic cruiser that packs more of a punch power-wise.

The motor provides abundant torque as you would expect from most Boshch offerings. It guarantees a smooth, outstanding ride despite the lack of full suspension. It’s definitely an e-bike meant for urban riding.
The wheels are quite aptly 27.5″, which allows it to accelerate faster and maintain its speed. It also integrates solid mudguards that stand out from the plastic, low-quality ones used by some brands.
That said, it comes complete with all the nice accessories you can expect from an urban cruiser/commuter like a kickstand, front and back lights, pannier rack, fenders, etc.

Moustache Friday 28 Model Line
The Friday 28 represents one of the more versatile selections in the brand’s catalog. Moustache offers both step-over and step-thru versions through the base 28.3 and 28.5, which are naturally step-over, as well as their Open versions, which represent the latter.
It’s a sporty city e-bike hybrid that serves to highlight the brand’s remarkable experience and knowledge when it comes to excellent design. The aesthetics are eye-turning enough as they are. The specs only seal the deal.
It uses a Bosch Active Plus motor for the 28.3, which is praised for its smooth, noise-free operation. The 28.5 ups this further by incorporating a Performance Line, which is difficult to rival with how quickly it accelerates.
The inclusion of most accessories you’ll normally see in a commuter or city e-bike (similar to the Lundi 27) makes it more of an urban-oriented e-bike overall. Just be prepared to be wowed when it rides just as smoothly on unpaved, more rugged trails as well.

We also love that it manages to keep its weight down. The stem can be rotated, too, (a quality shared by other Moustache e-bikes) and that’s always a welcome perk for anyone who has to work with smaller storage space.
It’s a highly recommended option for urban riders who want a zippier ride to beat the morning rush or for some fun with light off-roading every now and then.

Moustache Samedi 28 Model Line
An all-purpose cruiser/commuter offering, the Samedi 28 shares a lot of qualities with the Lundi 27. But since Moustache swears that its e-bike lines are unique, you’ll see that there are subtle differences.
All versions of the Samedi 28 encourage you to assume an upright sitting position, so it’s definitely a more comfort-oriented line. The open frames make mounting and dismounting a piece of cake.
The adjustable kickstand and wide, sturdy fenders are also notable. Like the Lundi 27, this one also uses nifty, mid-level Shimano components such as a 10-speed drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes.

The Bosch motor (with at least more than 60Nm of torque in most models) is a given, and we can’t ignore the fact that its integration into the frame is equally excellent as it both protects the former while still ensuring an optimal step-thru design.
The combination of power, quiet performance, great handling, and comfort make it an urban e-bike line to beat and generally accessible to most riders.

Moustache Dimanche 28 Model Line
The road e-bike, Dimanche 28, uses a third-gen Bosch Active Line motor, which is known for being discreet and efficient. It comes with PowerPack 500 made by the same top-tier motor manufacturer, and this Bosch-centric combination pretty much rings true for most of Moustache’s models.
The 50 Nm torque you can get from the motor is adequate, if not above-average for most riders. We’re basing most of these specs on the 28.5, which is the most popular model in the line.
It’s stable in terms of handling and imparts steady comfort because of the rider’s natural position when riding it. It accelerates decently and quietly thanks to the motor. It doesn’t disappoint in its relatively generous riding range as well.

All in all, the Dimanche 28.5 is amazing enough as it is. Expect the 28.7 to be a slightly higher-end version of it with a speed limit that goes beyond the 25kph that the 28.5 can manage. Go for it if you feel the e-bike needs a palpable speed boost but expect the same stability and versatility as most models in the Dimanche 28 line.

Moustache Dimanche 29 Model Line
Not a lot of e-bike companies have their own gravel models. The Dimanche 29 is certainly a good example of the versatility you can expect from an e-bike that falls under the said category. We’re, of course, referring mostly to the e-bike’s ability to ride on most terrains and offroad trails when we say this.
They offer excellent handling, too, when riding on most roads and trails. The e-bike owes this a lot to the outstanding geometry. You get the same comfortable riding position from its close sibling Dimanche 28. It delivers more power by integrating a Gen 3 Bosch Performance Line motor, which can give up to 63 Nm of torque, making easy work of even the rougher terrains out there.

The Shimano components, as in other lines, are equally noteworthy. The hydraulic brakes deliver adequate stopping power, which does well to compliment the already safety-oriented design of Moustache’s e-bikes. It’s a part shared by many of the brand’s high-end models.
Ultimately, it takes riding it to truly know what this gravel behemoth is all about.

Moustache Samedi 27 Model Line
The Samedi 27 is, quite possibly, the e-bike line that has the most number of incarnations. That being said, the line’s versatility is without question. You can see it in most XRoad models, which are marketed as both an urban e-bike and eMTB.
Most models in this line come powered by an 85-Nm Bosch Performance Line CX motor. This motor is shared by the Wide, Weekend, and XRoad models that are 5 and above. Basically, if you want an e-bike that will perform well as an eMTB and city e-bike, then feel free to choose between the XRoad models. Their designs and specs are well worth the price.
The Off versions are fairly unremarkable compared to the XRoad, at least, if we consider the superiority of the XRoad 5. The latter does well to provide a solid urban ride while not compromising on its ability to handle gravel, dirt, and grass trails. It’s a model that manages to provide a delicate balance between durability, comfort, handling, and, of course, power, hence, its popularity.

It’s a decent ride as a mountain e-bike, though don’t expect it to rival pure models. The accessories are fairly standard in the whole line of models. You get options where the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, rear rack, fenders, and front and back lights aren’t included, though, which highlights the sheer amount of options you can choose from. Lower versions of the XRoad dip in both price and specs, but the design remains the same.
The Weekend and Wide varieties share most specs with higher XRoad versions. Expect to get more range from the former with its two-battery feature, while the Wide makes up for the XRoad’s limitations in mountain biking by being more oriented for that type of riding.
The Tandem, obviously, is a highly specialized option. Think of it as a variation of the XRoad 5 or 7 that’s built to accommodate two riders at the same time.

Moustache Samedi 29 Model Line
Two distinct subcategories fall under the Samedi 29 line: Game and Trail. They represent the best that the brand has to offer in the eMTB field. The difference between the two, as far as specs are concerned, is considerably subtle, to say the least. Trail models are arguably more popular among eMTBers.
It’s a head-turner, especially the Trail 8, considering the price to quality ratio. You get the same Bosch Performance Line CX motor with 85 Nm torque found in other high-end models of the brand. This motor proves to be enough for conquering steep climbs common in this kind of riding.

It’s relatively easy to get the hang of the handling, making it highly recommended for those that are just starting out on their trail adventures. The overall comfort when riding and traction of the integrated Maxxis tires are also noteworthy.
The combination of the motor and the 625Wh battery makes sure the rider won’t find the support and range to be lacking. If we’re going to have to pick between the Game and Trail models, we’ll choose the latter in a heartbeat. It’s slightly lighter, too, and it’s tough to beat the sheer value of money of models like the Trail 8.

Moustache Samedi 26 Model Line
The Samedi 26’s uniqueness comes from the fact that it’s the only line to offer a Fat variety. The Samedi 26 Off is not that notable, as is its other cousins, considering the other options available in the Samedi family of e-bikes. It’s highlight-worthy in that it accommodates children, though, like the brand’s sole non-e-bike option, the Mercredi 12.
The Fat version, though, is not exactly one to be overlooked. It’s actually one of the most expensive offerings in the catalog, and we can immediately see why from the specs alone. You get a 250W Gen 4 mid-drive Bosch Performance Line motor that offers the same generous torque of 85 Nm as other premium Moustache models.

The tires are 4.8 inches wide, to be exact, which is massive for lack of a better term. Expect it to ride smoothly through snowy, gravelly, and rough roads without struggling too much because of the guaranteed traction. It’s got the same dropper seatpost as most Moustache models, which provides decent comfort while riding.

Moustache Friday 27 Model Line
The Friday 27 line serves as the brand’s offer to more casual urban riders. The models are more practical and seek to heighten the comfort of the rider as much as possible. They come complete with needed accessories such as a kickstand, (remarkably quiet) fenders, and a sturdy chain cover.
The handlebar comes with a swivel, allowing you to store it in more compact spaces. Don’t be fooled by the casual vibe, though, as these models come equipped with mostly Bosch Performance Line motors, with at least 40 Nm of torque. The range, since the battery’s Bosch as well, tops to at least 70 miles (110 km), which is an average figure in most Moustache models.

We like that the brand also manages to keep the weight down by introducing handy tweaks in its design and integrated components. They, for example, used batteries that weigh lighter. The seating position is upright, so comfort is guaranteed.
You also get the Shimano 180mm hydraulic brakes found in most models as well as the other solid accessories also included in most of the brand’s city and commuter offerings.

What Most Riders Think of Moustache
Despite its relative youth, Moustache has earned the hearts of plenty of riders in most countries where their models are readily available. Hobby riders, beginners, and consummate explorers share equal interest (and even, to a certain degree, passion) for the aesthetically pleasing, dynamic offerings of this budding e-bike company.
It’s a brand that isn’t stingy with its components. The display may not be remarkable compared to other higher-end brands but, still, you get assured quality in most of them. And who can possibly doubt a brand that integrates mostly Bosch and Shimano tried-and-tested components?
Compared to more established, popular brands, it will be a longshot to say that they enjoy the same following and patronage. But based on its historical performance and ever-growing catalog, it’s safe to say that it’s headed toward that direction considering its dedication to design and riding experience as well.
