Is Magicycle a good e-bike? Magicycle’s origin is unique because it was founded from a combination of passion for cycling, e-cycling, and familial affection. After all, it’s the brainchild of a single mind, Wade Wei, who became a developer of e-bikes partly because he wanted his father to continue to enjoy biking despite suffering from arthritis.

As Wade honed his knowledge in design and manufacturing, it didn’t take long for him to start his own company. Hence, Magicycle was born, with core values centering on innovation, freedom, and efficiency. It’s a young company established in 2020 in Chongqing, China.

Magicycle makes the fact that most of its e-bikes come in powerful 750W considerably prominent, complemented by equally impressive riding ranges. And, arguably, rightly so, since most of its models fall way below the average cost of most e-bikes in the market.

High-end specs at entry-level prices still aren’t standard in the e-bike industry. Magicycle counts itself among the companies that want to make dynamic and well-specced e-bikes more accessible to the riding public. These factors ultimately highlight its main strengths.

These brief reviews prove as much.

Magicycle Cruiser Line

Magicycle’s Cruiser line is one of the most popular products in the catalog. It’s available in step-thru and step-over varieties, all of which are marketed as all-terrain. Undoubtedly, the fat 26” x 4” Kendra tires are primarily responsible for the said characteristic, although the models are only ideal for light off-roading.

It’s a solid component, especially as it has an above-average grip, is puncture-resistant, and helps stabilize the overall ride, regardless of the roads you drive the Cruiser through.

You can also find and enjoy most of Magicycle’s head-turning specs in this particular line. The 750W motor offers up to 86 Nm of torque, which many high-end offerings can barely achieve. It is quite the performer, even if facing extra tricky uphill climbs.

This e-bike should be high on your list if you prefer to ride with full motor assist frequently.

The 55 miles (88 km) range ceiling similarly impresses. Of course, that’s only possible if you don’t tax the motor too much. Thankfully, you get plenty of control over this with the e-bike’s seven levels of pedal assist (with 1 offering the least assistance).

Overall, the Cruiser line offers one of the most versatile and powerful e-bikes in the catalog and the market – without requiring you to shell out too much. The fact that the models even come with rear racks, kickstands, front lights, and full fenders without additional cost brings more bang for your buck.

Magicyle Commuter Line

Although one of the lesser known in the catalog, the Commuter line is still quite noteworthy in its own right. One of the main reasons for this is that it sells for only a little over $1,000. With that much money, you get a 350W rear hub motor and a battery that can manage 40 miles (65 km). The rear hub means it will perform a little better on inclines because they typically yield more torque.

Everything about this line screams low-key. And Magicycle doesn’t hesitate to label it as “lightweight”. For people who have a more casual and laidback approach to commuting with an e-bike, this is quite an excellent match for them.

This is proven by including a drive belt that allows it to ride virtually without making any unwanted noise.

On the whole, it’s more of a minimalistic line with minimal accessories. You get full fenders and a two-legged kickstand as free accessories.

Magicycle Mountain Line

The Cruiser Pro is the brand’s primary eMTB offering and is a beefed-up version of the original Magicycle Cruiser. It’s upscaled because it offers 80 miles (130 km) of riding range and comes with a 750W motor that peaks at 1000W, allowing it to push the torque limit to a whopping 96 Nm.

This is undoubtedly the peak power as far as most e-bikes are concerned. And what’s even more remarkable is that it’s only a few $100s more expensive than the Cruiser.

Another notable feature in the Pro version is the Tektro 180mm hydraulic disc brake. It’s tough to beat hydraulic brakes regarding stopping power and safety. It comes with the same accessories as the Cruiser, such as the 7-speed shifter, LCD display, rear rack, front light, brake light, fenders, and kickstand. It also comes with the same Kendra fat tires.

Despite being labeled a Cruiser Pro, it fits the Mountain category quite well. After all, the fat tires aid in providing more traction and stability on challenging terrain.

The hardtail design may mean it will struggle a bit on downhill rides and more technical terrain, but it rides excellent overall in moderate offroad conditions. The generous torque means you won’t have to tax your legs too much, even when negotiating challenging hills.

Magicyle Folding Line

Magicycle’s Jaguarundi folding line shares plenty of similar specs with the Cruiser. One notable difference is that it has the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes of the Cruiser Pro. It comes with the same accessories minus a rear rack.

You technically get the best of both worlds since it offers the same 750W motor with 86 Nm torque output and the 55-mile (88 km) riding range limit, along with the benefit of folding the e-bike. It’s marketed toward riders who like the Cruiser but want to be able to stow it away in a more space-saving manner.

Other than that, there are no other remarkable features to highlight regarding the line.

Magicycle Fat Line

The Ocelot Pro is Magicycle’s sole pure-fat e-bike offering. It’s considered one of the best new releases. It’s replete with power in its 750W motor and 52V battery, which notably has a double-lock feature for added security. The battery integrates well into the noticeably thicker frame and boasts up to 60 to 80 miles (100 – 130 km) of range, depending on how often you use motor assist.

The 20×4 inch fat Kendra tires are equally great in guaranteeing exceptional handling and superb stability in various terrain types (namely, a combination of dirt trails and bike paths). Once we add in the 180mm powerful hydraulic disc brakes, the excellent design decisions become more apparent. You want brakes that pair well with that juggernaut of a motor, after all.

Many speedsters will love the way it can reach 28mph (or even 30mph! or 45-48 km/h) without much delay, compared to other fat e-bikes out there. Other notables include the highly adjustable seat height (allowing it to accommodate most riders’ sizes) and the extra low step-over frame for better accessibility.

Lastly, it includes all helpful accessories, such as large and wide fenders, headlights, rear rack, and kickstand. Overall, the much-needed versatility in fat e-bikes is readily present, and the high-end specs and evident power will pretty much “baby” any e-bike lover out there.

Does the Brand Offer E-Bike Accessories?

You can buy numerous accessories like their patent e-bike rack, 16-in-1 tools, helmets, battery bags, individual e-bike components, cycling sunglasses, pannier bags, cellphone holders, and portable pumps, to cite a few.

Do the E-Bikes Come with a Manufacturer’s Warranty?

The frame and battery are covered for two years, and the warranty takes effect upon receiving the e-bike. It only covers defects related to manufacturing. It doesn’t cover damage or wear and tear unless it happened during shipping.

Can You Avail of a Test Period for a Magicycle E-Bike?

As a customer, you can’t directly ask for a test ride. However, the brand encourages dealers to participate in their Test Riding Center Program. Once your business becomes a riding center, you can buy 2 to 3 models that will serve as demo e-bikes.

From there, you can buy a model directly from that dealer, and you’ll receive a discount coupon. So if you’re a rider, you must check out any local dealers in your area that are part of this particular program.

What Do Most E-Bike Riders Like About Magicycle?

A cursory glance at the reviews the Cruiser has been getting reveals that many riders love the model’s ability to climb hills and mountains with relative ease. This wouldn’t have been made possible without the integration of motors that offer excellent torque and batteries that are generous with their range.

Equally beloved is the versatility of such models on various kinds of terrain. All the while, its prices are affordable and don’t go over the top. It delivers on significant factors that e-bike riders consider when purchasing their models, in short, and that’s undoubtedly the key to its success in such a comparatively short period.

What Countries Does Magicycle Ship To?

As of this writing, the brand makes it clear that it only ships to mainland states in the US and Canada
