Ecotric certainly belongs to one of the younger generations of e-bike manufacturers, having been founded only in 2017 in Oakland, California. That is where its headquarters and R & D arm are still located up to now. Most of the manufacturing is done overseas, though.

Much like plenty of companies of its kind, it was started with name choice) and to promote healthier all-around lifestyles. For a young company, it has certainly already made its mark in the industry. This is only proven by its rapidly growing popularity in the US.

Ecotric e-Bikes Review: Model Lines List

The brand caters mostly to casual riders as evidenced by the numerous folding, city, cruiser, and commuter options it has. There are equally many fat variations of their e-bikes lines, which make offroading always viable. That said, Ecotric isn’t afraid to build models that fall under sportier categories, as evidenced by their highly original eMTBs.

It’s not hard to see why the brand has become fairly popular in a relatively short period of time. You rarely see a solid eMTB or city e-bike sell for less than $1,500 in the market. Plenty of the models’ value lies in the power, design, and high-quality components. It’s a brand that knows what components deliver optimal performance and obviously keeps them unbranded to bring down the prices of their e-bikes.

Ecotric Fat Folding (36V/48V) Model Line

Considering its design philosophy that centers on innovation, Ecotric’s fat folding e-bike is quite arguably its flagship e-bike line. It comes in 36V and 48V lithium-ion varieties, with the latter incorporating a more complete set of accessories than the former. For one, you also get an LCD display that helps keep track of basic parameters like distance and battery charge as well as a rear rack if you choose the 48V.

Obviously, you should expect to get more range out of the 48V. It also uses comfier, ergonomic seats. Those are pretty much the qualities that set the two apart, as they are similar in the majority of other aspects. Both use ubiquitous Bafang rear hub motors that accelerate fairly well and top at 20mph (32 km/h).

Both use mechanical brakes that are just fine but fail in comparison to hydraulic brakes found in other lines. You get the same Shimano 7-speed derailleur and a speed sensor for smarter motor assistance with pedal assist on-demand – components and features that are found in most Ecotric models.

The satisfactorily wide 20” fat tires allow you to do light off-trail riding with relative ease and lend to stability, too. That, plus the folding aspect makes this line well worth the budget-friendly price tag.

Ecotric Lark Women’s Model Line

The Lark is the brand’s commuter line dedicated to women. As of this writing, only one model falls under its category, a 500W vintage-inspired, step-thru offering that brims with comfort. You can see this in the upright sitting position and the curved cruiser handlebars. The seats are equally comfortable and can be adjusted to perfectly suit the rider’s height.

We also like that it doesn’t pale in comparison to its cousins as far as power is concerned. It uses the same rear hub motor as the 36V fat e-bike, so you can expect to get the same satisfactory riding range.

It’s pretty much complete in terms of extra components. The front basket is a plus, as well as the wide fenders, rear rack, and kickstand. Lastly, we like the extra protective cover given to the battery, which happens to be the line’s overall theme as well.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Lark model line here.

Ecotric Peacedove Model Line

There are a lot of similarities between the Peacedove and the Lark lines. In fact, the only glaring differences are the price tag (Peacedove costs close to half Lark’s price) and the less powerful 350W motor used in this line. Overall, it has the same vintage look as the Lark, and the same number of accessories, making it a bonafide steal.

It’s not for nothing that it’s one of the brand’s most popular lines. It’s not just because it’s the cheapest in the catalog. You really can’t go wrong with an e-bike that uses a tried-and-tested comfort-oriented design, so if you’re a beginner, then it’s highly recommended that you get this.

It may be heavy, topping at 70 pounds (32 kg), but it’s hard to find any other adequately powerful, comfortable, and generously equipped model that sells for bargain-basement prices nowadays.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Peacedove model line here.

Ecotric Beach Snow Model Line

We’ve categorized this as a hybrid mostly because of its versatility in doing even some light mountain biking, beach cruising, and road riding. It owes most of that perk to its massive 26” fat tires., which also happen to be anti-skid.

It uses a 36V battery with 12.5Ah, making it slightly more powerful, but the motor is the same 36V rear brand standard one. For less than $1,000 you get an LCD display and a tougher, aluminum alloy frame that also keeps its weight down to 60 pounds (27 kg).

We like its outdoor readiness as evidenced by the bright front lights and the mechanical disc brakes that have more stopping power. Of course, the tire’s anti-skid quality adds to safety, too. We can compare it a lot to the RadRover. As proven by the ones we mentioned here, it has plenty of positive qualities, not least of which is power and comfort, that can rival – if not beat – that popular e-bike model.

Ecotric Seagull Model Line

Even though the Seagull is evidently one of Ecotric’s premier models, it still doesn’t even break the $1,300 mark price-wise. That fact is actually surprising, considering the 1,000W motor, hydraulic disc brakes, and satisfactory riding ranges of up to 50 miles or 80 km (with pedaling) from the 48V battery.

Easy E-Biking - Ecotric Seagull electric bicycle - real world, real e-bikes, helping to make electric biking practical and fun

The large but not fat tires are designed to handle any kind of terrain. It’s definitely an unconventional eMTB as far the design goes, but we can surely see it handling any kind of rougher than normal terrain because of aspects such as the e-bike’s overall sturdiness, front suspension, and the sportiness of the handlebars. It even rides well as a road e-bike.

For the price, components, and versatility, the Seagull has few rivals. It’s no wonder it’s one of the most in-demand e-bike lines in the Ecotric collection.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Seagull model line here.

Ecotric Dolphin Model Line

The Dolphin is another one of Ecotric’s folding offerings that’s, more or less, up to the mark. Think of it as a twin of the 36V folding fat e-bike, made available as a step-thru option. It incorporates the same features and has the same specs so expect it to be similar in performance and versatility to that.

Ecotric Starfish Model Line

For anyone who wants a lighter e-bike while enjoying the Ecotric experience, you won’t go wrong with the Starfish line. The e-bikes are as compact as they are lightweight, especially when folded, which makes them suitable for those with smaller storage space to work with.

Ecotric’s low-end step-thru folding e-bike comes complete with accessories, most notably the wide rear rack, fender, kickstand, etc. The rear motor’s 350W power is slightly higher than most folding e-bikes, so that’s a plus for the price point. The battery is easy to remove as it uses the standard slide-and-lock mechanism found in plenty of models.

As in most folding e-bikes of Ecotric, the inclusion of the rear rack and the 200-pound (91 kg) weight capacity make the Starfish line models truly nifty and functional. The performance is just as satisfactory.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Starfish model line here.

Ecotric Leopard Model Line

An eMTB that sells for a little more than $1,000, the Leopard or even less, as the brand also offers Leopard e-bikes for $939.99. First off, we like that the battery is just as power-saving as the ones found in other lines. This is especially true if you balance your pedals and motor assist as much as you can.

Easy E-Biking - Ecotric Leopard electric bicycle - real world, real e-bikes, helping to make electric biking practical and fun

Secondly, we like the versatility. It rides just as well on paved roads as any kind of rough terrain. It definitely fits the Mountain category since it’s also a hardtail and uses a fairly powerful 500W rear hub motor. It has the traction we want for traversing muddy roads and tough inclines. Even so, don’t expect it to deliver as much punch as mid-drive varieties.

While there’s not much good to say on the topic of comfort, the e-bike is customizable enough to make up for that.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Leopard model line here.

Ecotric Hammer Model Line

Riders who prefer an all-terrain, budget e-bike should consider the Hammer. It’s marketed as both a beach cruiser and a snow bike, thanks to the massive 26” fat tires. There’s also front suspension and far superior hydraulic disc brakes.

Easy E-Biking - Ecotric Hammer electric bicycle - real world, real e-bikes, helping to make electric biking practical and fun

750W motors are nothing short of rare in e-bikes selling at this price point, so that’s also a quality that makes this a steal. You’ll get more range out of the equally powerful 48V lithium-ion battery – at least 60 miles (95 km) with pedaling.

We’re not exactly a fan of the step-over frame in a cruiser, but we can’t deny that it’s considerably comfortable to ride and easy to get the hang of. The seats leave a lot to be desired, but you can always replace it with a gel-cushioned one, without shelling out too much dough for it. We like the curved cruiser handlebars, though.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Hammer model line here.

Ecotric Rocket Model Line

The Rocket is more like a classic cruiser than the Hammer because of the step-thru design (although the frame may not be as low as some riders would want it). It’s less powerful overall, though, as it only uses 500W rear motors and a 36V lithium-ion battery.

Easy E-Biking - Ecotric Rocket electric bicycle - real world, real e-bikes, helping to make electric biking practical and fun

Still, you don’t really need much power when doing light off-trailing, and the Rocket definitely shines the most in such roads. The fat tires contribute to that aspect, too. Overall, think of the Rocket as a cheaper, less-specced version of the Hammer, with not much difference in acceleration capability and stability while riding.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Rocket model line here.

Ecotric Vortex Model Line

Available for less than $700, the Ecotric Vortex is one of the most affordable city e-bikes at present. It has a sportier design, which could very well make it fit the eMTB category. The decent power from the 350W rear motors only supports this argument. However, the lack of any suspension ultimately convinces us that it’s better for urban rides and on bridle paths and forest and park roads at most.

We like that fenders come as a default component, even though it’s a low-end model. The combination of the components and geometry keeps the weight down, allowing it to be nimble. It’s for these reasons that this e-bike deserves a thumbs up. It opts for minimalism and delivers on what counts the most while doing so.

We invite you to take a closer look at the Ecotric Vortex model line here.

Does Ecotric Offer Manufacturer’s Warranty?

The brand offers a number of extended warranty options to their customers once they decide to buy any e-bike. The normal warranty covers 18 months for the frame, battery, motor, controller, and display. You can choose to extend that warranty for 1 year and add 1 more year to the battery coverage.

Does Ecotric Offer a Test Period for Its E-Bikes?

You can avail of the 30-day home trial offer. You can ride the e-bike at home for that said period of time. You can return it for an exchange or ask for a refund within that duration. Approved refunds will be subject to a 20% restocking fee of the original price.

Riders’ General Opinion of Ecotric

Ecotric’s models enjoy a relatively wide reach in the US. Both Walmart and Amazon sell Ecotric e-bikes, so it goes without saying that its popularity in the said country is already without question. E-bikes have acquired a reputation of being naturally expensive; this brand is slowly dismantling that assumption – if it hasn’t already.

Of course, it wouldn’t have won hearts through low price tags alone. Its models certainly don’t disappoint and can exceed any rider’s expectations, especially with their power and high-quality components.

In short, Ecotric has attained a reputation as a budget-friendly e-bike brand while delivering more than what you normally expect from its e-bike prices.

What Countries Does Ecotric Ship To?

As of this writing, Ecotric only caters to US customers and offers free shipping to 48 states, excluding Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and other US protectorates.
