Blix is one of the many well-recognized California-based brands in the e-bike industry. Considering it was founded in Santa Cruz in 2014 by Swede Pontus Malmberg, it is safe to say that it is one of those standout brands that walk the talk through the close to incomparably rapid growth it has undergone since that time.

While the company doesn’t outright say what its name stands for, it may well be derived from the same Swedish name that happens to stand for joy. That immediately stands out in the company’s general design and riding experience philosophy.
Is Blix a good e-bike brand to buy? Its combination of utility, performance, style, and highly affordable price tag guarantees enjoyment in more ways than one.

Despite the relatively small catalog, Blix provides variety through its four major e-bike models. The categories they fall under fit well with the company’s target market, primarily urban and casual riders. There’s a laidback, simple vibe with most of their models’ designs and an apparent touch of the familiar and the classical commuter bike.
It may have adopted a more minimalist approach to design, but most riders soon discover that these e-bikes deliver plenty of power without going over the top with the costs, unlike most brands out there.
The brand may have flaws, but it’s hard to name other companies that deliver value for money through its design and component decisions. These aspects, with all things considered, make it work better than other brands that adopt the same approach.
Blix Aveny Skyline Commuter Model
This feature-packed commuter highlights why many people are drawn to Blix’s models. Its integrated accessories leave no room for want and need, at least as far as what most riders like to be added to an everyday commuter e-bike.
You get beautiful, classical-looking fenders, headlights, a rear rack, and a kickstand. Thanks to its positioning, the kickstand supports the extra weight on the rear portion of the e-bike, especially if there’s added load.
The wide seat post, low, stylish step-thru frame, and upright, swept-back handlebars are all hallmarks of top-notch comfort. Again, as we said before, the extra weight on the back might be a downside and may make it hard to lift the e-bike when needed. However, it’s stable overall when being ridden, and we have mostly the design elements to thank for that (e.g., the larger, wider tires and positioning and curving form of the fork).

The riding range tops 40 miles (65 km), which is a plus. The rear-mounted motor may not be optimal for most, but it delivers more than enough power thanks to its 750W output and 70Nm of torque. Of course, we can’t ignore the reasonably cheap price point.

Blix Packa Genie Cargo Model
This is one of the more family-oriented options available in the Blix catalog. Almost instantly, we love that it gives you the option to include a second battery without ballooning the price too much, and, as most riders go, we can’t have enough range when it comes to cargo options.
Like the Aveny, the Packa doesn’t leave you asking for more regarding accessories. The wider-than-normal fenders, a sturdy kickstand, reflective tires, bright headlights, and rear lights suffice. We also love that you get plenty of accessories and different ways to use the rear cargo, allowing it to seamlessly serve as an alternative for a car.

The upright stem and handlebar boost comfort, and the accompanying fork compensates for the lack of suspension. The 750W rear motor gives you all the power you need for those steep climbs, and the hydraulic disc brakes provide adequate stopping power despite the extra weight. With two batteries, you may get more than 100 miles (160 km) out of it, as one battery can already achieve 75 miles (120 km) on a full charge.

Blix Sol Eclipse Cruiser Model
The Sol cruiser has undergone numerous improvements in recent years. Its most recent incarnation, the Eclipse, deserves to be in the best cruiser’s discussion considering the said improvements and its very low cost compared to others with, more or less, the same quality.
Please note that some of the accessories you’ll expect may not be readily included in its base price. The fenders, rear rack, and suspension seat post are all optional. However, you do get puncture-resistant tires and headlights included.
The step-thru frame promptly gives the impression that the company knows how to design a good, easy-to-mount cruiser.

Like other Blix models, this one uses a wide tire that aids stability and comfort. The swept-back handlebar and adjustable stem then complement these. This model’s included tech is well worth mentioning since it has all the needed controls for the e-bike and throws in a USB port that lets you charge your phone while on the go.
Like most Blix e-bikes, the pedal assist is highly responsive, thanks mainly to the integrated cadence sensor. The Shengyi hub motor gives you as much as 90Nm of abundant torque, so expect this to make easy work of even the most challenging climbs. It more or less shares a similar range with the Aveny Skyline, giving you up to 45 miles (70 km) per full charge at most.

Blix Vika+ Folding Model
For its price, the Vika+ easily beats many other brands that offer folding e-bikes. After all, there’s no room to doubt the quality of its components, particularly the fenders, integrated lights, and rear rack. It even throws in an adjustable kickstand.
Much like its cousins, the Vika+ is also a step-thru. That makes it all the more recommended for people who are used to convenient mounting and dismounting but have limited options for folding varieties.
This one’s got a rear rack, which is a rare sight among folding models. That’s good if you’re aiming to transport things while using a folding e-bike. Also, you usually don’t get bottle cage bosses in e-bikes, much less in folding varieties, so the fact that this has one is a big plus.

It’s not a pain to fold, unlike some models out there. Almost anyone can get the hang of it in no time, primarily because of the integration of magnet technology. We also love that it doesn’t compromise rider safety by including puncture-resistant tires with reflective and brake-activated rear lights and a single headlight. However, it only has mechanical disc brakes.
It uses a compact 500W geared hub motor by Shengyi, similar to other Blix models. It gives just enough torque with 50Nm in total. The range is slightly higher than other models, topping at 50 miles (80 km).

Blix Dubbel Utility Model
The Blix Dubbel has been created to make daily travel easy and eco-friendly, especially with a child or cargo. No need to take your car out to drop your kid at school or run earrings to the grocery store!
Clutter-free, clean design showcasing minimalism is undoubtedly a big advantage. Such modular design means that the e-bike is equipped with Smart Mounting Points at the front and back. You can pick from a range of accessories to help carry more load. The design offers the rider the flexibility to customize the e-bike as per their need and as the situation demands.
The Blix Dubbel comes with two batteries, which means more charging capacity. The total charge is 1,228Wh (48V, 672Wh per battery), and it offers a range of up to 80 miles (130 km) per charge.

Blix Ultra Multi-Purpose Model
The Blix Ultra, one of the latest presentations from the brand, is highly adaptable as per the rider’s requirements. Some of the top features of the model include the flexibility to switch between Class 2 and 3-speed limits, thanks to the Blix App and Bluetooth connectivity.
If you love speed, mainly off-road, then the Blix Ultra is for you. Thanks to the 750 Watt 90Nm rear-hub motor that powers up with lots of acceleration and assistance and the 48V 672Wh front battery. Even with low pedal assist settings, the motor-battery duo gives a tremendous performance.
There’s the option to add another 48V 672Wh battery in the rear to make your off-road escapades stress-free. With 1,334Wh, you are assured 80 miles (130 km) on a single charge.

Almost any e-bike company that’s been around for more than five years and has had a solid presence in the market is bound to be more trustworthy among most e-bike riders. We won’t hesitate to say that Blix fits the bill when it comes to that. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the company also includes a two-year warranty on all their e-bikes.
Equally, many are drawn to the aesthetics of the models, which prove that simplicity can slay higher-end brands in the style arena. The company gives you plenty of color options to choose from to customize.
Overall, it’s a brand that knows what riders want and makes it a point to deliver it. That is undoubtedly its simple success formula.
